To a better & brighter year

This past year has been a rough ride for many of us. But it does no good for us to hold on to the pain of the past, or beat ourselves up for what we should have done. Even if you are amidst a struggle right now, try as best you can to view what's been in a reflective mindset, let what you can go and detach from the pain. When reviewing your year try to include both things that have gone well and things that have gone badly. It might be a challenge at first to think of the positive aspects of the past year, but I guarantee if you seek long enough you will find a positive note.

Once you have spent some time reviewing, take a moment to figure out what(within your control) could you improve. What steps could you take to improve on one thing this new year? Plan manageable small goals. It is far more satisfying to achieve a micro-goal than to not achieve anything. Make there be as little resistance between your goal and your willpower. We only have a finite amount of willpower, don't use it recklessly. Find a habit you already have nailed down and try to attach your goal to that. That way you'll remember to do it and it will be an easier transition. Batching habits can be a really effective way for us to achieve more. Often when you have beaten the initial resistance for one task there is usually less resistance for the next task.

Plan for setbacks, don't expect it all to go plain sailing. There are many, many times that I have failed at certain goals (Some I am still, after many years, trying to hack). It is completely natural for our first attempts to fail. We are human and not every way of doing things is right for us. We all have preferences. There are some ways towards goals that may come more easily for you. Expect it. Take that into account. We don't always know what will, or won't work, so try to make some contingency plans. Realise that the road to success is never a straight line.

I hope that 2021 is a brighter, healthier and more successful year for you.

Much Love
